Well, they created the first automatic mechanical movement. Even though the ghost of El Primero hovers over Zenith, the brand was also known for its well-crafted timepieces. The first Defy was launched in 1969. When the horology world was deep in diving watches and accurate movements Zenith built the strong, sturdy Defy making a brand that defies the cultural norms applied to the watchmaking industry. Zenith resurrected the Defy collection back in 2017 and the Defy El Primero 21 was one of the family’s initial stars.
