eBay JONESANTIQUES! Description This listing is for making a 1930’s craft wall plaque basket from flat wood clothespins. The listing includes a copy of the 1930’s Dennison directions and crepe paper flower pattern, as well as six 1930’s flat wooden clothespins required for making the basket. Other items mentioned in the instructions are not included in the listing, but are available (some from me). The basket instructions say to also use wire and crepe paper, both regular and duplex. I have some for sale, if you want vintage crepe paper, or you can use new crepe paper. If you don’t want to buy the sheets which can be hard to find, you can also use the crepe paper rolls that are used for party decorating. Additionally you would need “stamens” which are inexpensive and readily available on Ebay. The roses are easier to create if you use duplex paper (two pieces of crepe paper fused together), but can be created with single pieces as well. If you want to try the added coloring method, you can melt regular crayons and use that to add color as the instructions suggest, or experiment with newer paints and colors. The “powder” referred to in the instructions is I believe cloth dye that was available in the 1930’s as a powder, and still available today as a liquid (usually in the soap isle at the grocery store). The instructions also say to use twisted crepe paper rope for joining the clothes pins – you can do this (I have the vintage Dennison twisters for sale as well), OR you can use cord or other types of craft ropes and ribbons for binding the clothes pins together. The basket also calls for paper to be glued to the outside of the clothes pins, in a plain color. I though vintage wrapping paper might be cool! The directions are a bit hard to understand, as they aren’t as detailed as the instructions we are used to today, but the finished product would be SOOOO charming! The vintage instructions leave a lot of room for creatively completing a wall basket and adding your own touches. The vintage crafts are way different than anything you will find today – and lots of fun to do. The instructions are taken from a 1930’s / 1940’s brochure from Dennison for making baskets from clothes pins. The clothes pins are original vintage. Payment I accept Paypal!
