This is Mandy, the 13 inch souvenir doll from the Piedmont Doll Club Regional Convention in 1978, located in Greensboro, NC. The doll was sculpted by doll artist Lita Wilson, painted and assembled by doll artist Muriel Kramer. The back of the head is marked: “Piedmont Doll Club Souvenir April 1978”; on the lower edge of the back shoulder is “Mandy” and Muriel Kramer’s signature. Initials “LW” on right shoulder and it looks like the word “original” on the left shoulder. “Petite Portrait” is written across the lower edge of the front of the shoulder plate. Porcelain shoulder head, arms and legs with a stuffed cloth body. She wears a beautiful elaborate outfit by Marjorie Kilby, a club member who specialized in costuming dolls – her label is pictured in the photos. The costume consists of a dress with an overskirt in front and a detachable one in back, the sash, and lots of lace and floral ribbon trim. The underclothes include camisole, petticoat, and pantaloons. Her shoes are painted on, and tiny butterfly earrings are in her pierced ears. The doll is very clean, no chips or cracks in the porcelain, no stains or tears to the clothing. Mandy has been well cared for and is from a smoke-free home always – I am her original owner.
