Native American Indian Paiute PICTORIAL BEADED BASKET Lid Teepee Owls + amazing Click images to enlarge Description This is a very beautiful vintage Native American Indian Paiute, possibly Washoe, hand woven willow and pictorial beaded basket with lid.  Beaded with little glass seed beads, rich coloring, the background bead is a deep blue.  There is a teepee with 2 owls on a branch next to it, a fabulous duck-I don’t know what he is standing on, a warrior or hunter with bow & arrow, again don’t knw what is depicted at the end of his arrow, a canoe perhaps near the bottom & under the oppossum and white hare or rabbit, a large red flower, 2 flowers on the lid and a colorful geometric pattern on bottom.  Beautiful willow basketry, gorgeous symbolic, auspicious beading. Fantastic old condition, not sure of the decade this was made so please use your own knowledge on that.  Tiny spot at top of basket above duck’s head where there is a loose thread end, maybe 2,  showing, 3 blue beads have come off that I know of, retained them.  Small break in basket weave on underside of lid rim, see pics.  No other obvious issues that I can see.  Naturally there is accumulated dust down in the beadwork which is to be expected. Stunning old beaded basket.   See all pics..
