Fragrant , Oeoniella polystachys – Near Mature Size in 2″ pot. Madagascar species A rewarding and small-growing member of the Vandaceous family of orchids, it is one of only two known species in Oeoniella ! This fragrant member of the species does best with high humidity, moderate shade and even moisture for its fall to spring flowering season. The 6-10″ arching flower spikes can produce 7-15 fragrant white-lipped chartreuse flowers, approximately 2″ in size and bearing a nighttime fragrance similar to coconut. Get to know your growerNorman Fang oversees all of the growing at our nursery. Norman received his degree in Ornamental Horticulture from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona in 1988. While still a student, he managed the Raymond Burr Orchid Collection on campus. He received two scholarships to study plant tissue culture that also allowed him to study under Dr. Murashige at the University of California and Dr. Tanabe at the University of Hawaii. In addition, he was honored in 2005 with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Agriculture at Cal Poly in Pomona. In 1986, Norman started his renowned nursery, Norman’s Orchids, based in both California and Taiwan. His parents, brother and sister soon joined him in the company as it grew. As the second youngest American Orchid Society (AOS) Judge to become fully accredited at that time, Norman has traveled extensively around the world to judge numerous orchid shows. In 1996, with Paul Bechtel, he initiated AOS Judging at the Taiwan International Orchid Show and since then has served as the AOS Judging Coordinator for the show. He has also long served as the AOS Representative for the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association. Norman has served as Past Vice President of the American Orchid Society and also regularly volunteers for them. Lastly Norman Fang has acquired over 400 Flower Quality Awards from the American Orchid Society for his outstanding orchids.
