Recorded in the late 1920s, “PICT-UR-MUSIC” disks were intended for use by small theaters that couldn’t afford a live orchestra or organist. To set them apart from Victor’s regular 78 rpm records, “PICT-UR-MUSIC” disks were issued with their own special label (see the sample posted with this auction.) After silent films were no longer being made, these recordings were made available to the producers of low budget serials, feature films, Westerns, etc. as stock “library” music.
