DIAMETER 1,200-1,400 ft. CAPACITY 16mm FILMALUMINUM SPLIT REEL IN ORIGINAL BOX Film Reels are what Goldberg Brothers does best. They offer a wide range of reels that meet or exceed motion picture industry precision standards, in sizes ranging from 8mm to 105mm. The Goldbergs started their most famous product line in 1913, supplying the fledgling silent film industry with film reels, shipping boxes and related hardware. Although just a sideline at first, their film-related supplies went on to become their most successful venture. In 1940, Goldberg Brothers signed a license agreement to manufacture film reels under the Eastman Kodak brand, setting the stage for the company to become the world’s leading supplier of film reels for both the professional and amateur markets. A “split reel” is a motion picture film reel in two halves that, when assembled, hold a specific length of motion picture film that has been wound on a plastic core. Using a split reel allows film to be shipped or handled in a lighter and smaller form than film would on a “fixed” reel. Also, the cost factor. shipping and storing film stock on cores, saves the cost of an expensive reel. While a normal metal 12.25″ 1200′ reel has a core of about 4″, using a split reel with a 2″ core increases the capacity of the reel to around 1,400 ft. This auction is for a BRAND NEW GOLDBERG BROS. 16mm movie film aluminum SPLIT reel in its ORIGINAL BOX. It measures about 12.25 inches in diameter and has a capacity of around 1,400+ feet of film. (See Pics) It was part of an inventory removed from a home of a CAMERA COLLECTOR after he died and the owners sold the home. These cameras were among a number of CAMERAS AND PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLIES. They all looked like in decent shape. So, I am selling it “AS IS” NO RETURNS NO REFUNDS, and pricing it accordingly. Condition: This reel appears to be in BRAND NEW condition, fully functional. It is about 50 years old. Due to the quantity available, the item pictured may not be the actual item you will receive.
