I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Modelcollect is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a fabulous reputation for innovation and quality. I especially like the fact that they use customer feedback to improve their kits to correct errors. They initially produced some small scale finished models and later branched out into kits and larger scales. This tremendous release is the iconic B-52 that started out in the 1950’s as a Cold Warrior but remarkably remains in service today. The specific subject of this kit is a B-52G with 20 AGM-86 Air Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCMs). Modelcollect even included many interior details to complete the kit! I found a handful of eBay listings for this kit (from Poland and Germany), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have it in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this state-of-the-art kit: The Modelcollect website has a page for this kit that shows the impressive box art, the complete full-color 26-page instruction set and painting guide along with a few reference photos of a B-52 in flight, the tail gun array and an ALCM in flight. From other sources, I have found the following information about their kit: The B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber. It has been operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) since the 1950s and has been receiving continuous upgrades. The most significant change in the G variant was a new “wet” wing with integral fuel tanks, increasing gross aircraft weight by 38,000 pounds (17,235 kg). In addition, a pair of 700 US gallons (2,650 l) external fuel tanks were fitted under the wings. The traditional ailerons were also eliminated, and the spoilers now provided all roll control. The tail fin was shortened by 8 feet (2.4 m) and the nose radome was enlarged. The tail gunner was relocated to the forward fuselage, aiming via a radar scope, and was now provided with an ejection seat. The B-52G entered service on 13 February 1959. 193 B-52Gs were produced, making this the most produced B-52 variant. Scalemates.com shows that this is one of the latest BUFF kits released in 2021, based on the 2018 new tooling. They show the box art and give us a link to download the complete full-color 26-page instruction set and painting guide, along with a few links to books, references and walkarounds that will be useful in your build, but not much specific information about this kit. I could not find any reviews of this kit (#UA72212), but there are some reviews of the near-identical parent to this kit (#UA72200). There may be a few differences in the parts or decals, but the comments of the reviewers should apply to any of these kits. There is a very thorough In-Box Review of the #UA72200 kit, on the bilingual (English and German) modellmanufaktur-ll.at site which is the original B-52H with a set of 12 cruise missiles. We get great shots of each sprue, PE fret and decal sheet with a small sample of the instructions. The author really liked the kit, saying: “The B-52 family from Modelcollect is a welcome replacement for the AMT / ERTL and Monogram kits. Most of the details are beautifully executed, in some places more would certainly be possible, a lot, such as the cockpit or landing gear, is only partially visible on the finished model.” florymodels did a lengthy (26-minute) Unboxing Review of the same #UA72200 B-52H kit. Phillip starts with the instruction book before parading the decals and plastic. He successfully test-fits most of the large parts and even compares it to a Tu95 Bear that he has built to show the B-52 is larger in all respects. In the end, he highly recommends this kit. This kit is in an enormous, sturdy box about 20.5” x 12.5” x 3.5”, with a great image of this legendary bomber. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit, with hundreds of grey plastic parts, a small fret of photo etched metal parts for the instrument panels and a large sheet of Cartograf decals, along with a large instruction booklet.
