I want to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. This is the thirty-second kit in the long line of Orange Super Value Packs from Cyber Hobby (Dragon) that have become very hard to find. The StuG. III has appeared in several Orange Box releases due to its importance and widespread usage across all fronts. This Super Value Pack kit is a repackaging of the very successful Dragon StuG III Ausf.B (DML #6008) with the bonus of a highly detailed set of Magic Tracks and four German Wehrmacht Infantry figures from Operation Barbarossa 1941 (DML #6105). I found a handful of listings for this kit on eBay (almost all from distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web: The cyber-hobby.com site no longer has a page for this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I have found the following information about this kit: The StuG III was created as a result of an initiative undertaken by Erich von Manstein, who in a letter to General Beck in 1935 signaled the need to create assault artillery for the advancing infantry within the mechanized units of the Wehrmacht. Ultimately, the order to design a new vehicle was commissioned to Daimler-Benz, which in turn used the chassis of the PzKpfw III Ausf.B. Several versions of the StuG III gun were produced during series production. Chronologically, the first was the A version, armed with the 75mm Stuk 37 L/24 gun and based on the chassis of the PzKpfw III Ausf.F and G and produced from the beginning of 1940. Soon after, version B was created – the first one to be produced on a large scale, which differed only slightly from version A. – Value Added Magic Tracks with detail on both sides- Bonus Figures Set: Wehrmacht Infantry (Barbarossa 1941) Scalemates.com shows that this is a 2011 release (with new parts) of Dragon’s classic 1998 tooling of StuG III Ausf.B (DML #6008). That tooling has been the basis of dozens of releases across the Dragon, Cyber Hobby, Hasegawa, Italeri, Revell, Zvezda and Platz brands. They have the box art and a link to download the complete, 2-color 9-page instruction set and painting guide for the original release (DML #6008). There are also links to reviews, aftermarket parts, galleries and resources that could be useful. Scott Van Aken published a brief Preview on the modelingmadness.com site. He provides a short background on Operation Barbarossa and the Sd.Kfz. 142 Sturmgeschütz III (StuG. III). He appreciated the Value Added Magic Tracks and Bonus German Panzergrenadier Figure Set. We don’t see the plastic but he gives us images of the box art, figure set box art, the Parts Layout drawing and the excellent decals. His Conclusion sounds like a sales pitch: “If you want a very nice StuG III kit and figures, and don’t want to pay a lot for it, then this is the kit for you.” Keith Middleton delivered a comprehensive In-Box Review on the archive.armorama.com site. He provides over 40 photos of the sprues, part details, tracks, PE parts, decals and instructions, with an emphasis on the elaborate figure set. He describes the contents of the main kit, as well as the four sprues that make up the figure set, including a variety of weapons and ammunition boxes. The High for this kit is described as: “As always, the high point of any Orange Box kit is value for the dollar.” Beast’s Builds posted a short (under 4 minutes) Build Review Video on YouTube that discusses the kit throughout and shows a few steps in the construction. He stops before final assembly awaiting the pre-painting process. You can see how well the parts go together, but there are not many tips presented here. This kit is in a large, sturdy box about 15” x 9.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is in terrific shape and still snugly sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 150 grey plastic parts, two frets of photo etched metal parts, Magic Track links (108 left and 108 right), a sheet of Cartograf decals and a bonus set of four German Wehrmacht Infantry figures from Operation Barbarossa 1941 (DML #6105). It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally.
